Sony KDL-20S3000 - 20" Widescreen Bravia HD Ready LCD TV - Review

This is another great product from Sony and I'm very pleased with this one. The TV is ideal for a kitchen or bedroom (I have mine in the kitchen). When I buy a product I like to do lots a research and narrow down the possible products. Out of the HD TVs I had narrowed down a list of Phillips, Samsung and LG - all round the 20" size. I like to go down to a shop to view and listen to the TVs first before buying, and to me - the Sony looked and sounded the best.

I found that the Samsung was the smallest of my list of possible TVs and also looks very pretty, however as I found with the LG - the sound quality was poor with no decent bass. With the Phillips - I wasn't too impressed with the picture, so while I had to reach a little deeper in my pocket I decided to go for the Sony in the end as the sound and picture seemed much better than the rest - it really does look brilliant! This is a big purchase for me but I like to get something that I'm completely happy with so I'm glad I spent the little extra.

The picture quality is pretty awesome, but going from an old CRT style TV I'm going to notice the difference! The sound is even better than my old TV which I thought wouldn't be the case - so a pleasent suprise there.

If you are going to put the TV in a confined space, have a look on the manufacturers website and check the measurements. Be careful as sometimes they list two dimensions, one with a stand and one without.

I searched high and low on the net for the best price and at the time of writing Amazon is the cheapest. Delivery was great, I placed my order on Tuesday and the set arrived on Thursday at 9am, free delivery as well!

Sony Bravia KDL52V5500 HD LCD TV Review

The black levels, contrast ratio, motion processing and detail of the Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 go beyond what you would expect from an lcd tv. Sony has constantly driven the boundaries in taking full advantage of the capabilities of LCD picture quality and this television does as well.

The Sony Bravia KDL-52V5500 is great for Blu-ray and other HD sources. The best Blu-ray experience can be seen on a Sony TV, and this Bravia LCD is no exception. The created picture on this TV possesses amazingly clear detail and brilliant colours. Blu-ray film motion is very high-quality, although not up to the standards of the costlier W5500s which have Sony's Motion flow 100 hertz motion processing. On dimly lit scenes back lighting sometimes comes through at the corners and mars the picture that has so many excellent qualities.

It is a pity that the screen illumination on this Sony KDL52V5500 TV isn't more even because if it was then this TV would be ahead of all of its competition at this price point - fortunately this isn't always apparent. However the sonic and visual performance on standard definition and HD Blu ray sources is still outstanding. Occasionally on a number of images, there is a little bit of edge shimmering however this is barely perceptible unless you are trying to find it.

Even at this surprisingly low price for an LCD television of this quality, this Sony Bravia offers superior sound quality by comparison to other models with its crystal clear sound and deep bass.

The Sony KDL52V55000 has deep, dark blacks combined with super brilliant whites and an outstandingly detailed picture, in particular on Hi Definition sources. It will give you bright, exciting colours as well as great smooth flowing motion. Even though the backlighting is less than desirable, the positives outweigh the negative, and you should definitely consider a purchase.

Samsung LN32A450 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Vs. Sony Bravia XBR-Series KDL-32XBR6 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

In the 32' variety, Sony has made an absolute gem, which is tough to beat. Yet Samsung has launched its own ace and has won many hearts due to key features. Both are framed in black. Here is a comparison.

Both TVs are almost similarly heavy (or light) and come with wall mounts. But the Samsung version is thinner, giving it a sleeker look.

Resolution does not give much scope for comparison. Sony's 32" version has 1080p. That may be too much of pixels if viewed closely. From safe distance, the view is quite real. Samsung's 32" does have only 720p resolution. For the record, the higher the resolution, the higher is the clarity of a TV.

The image aspect ratio in both televisions is 16:9. That is considered the ideal ratio, as the projections do not feel elongated or widened.

In terms of dynamic contrast ratio, Sony wins hand down with a 25000:1 ratio compared to Samsung's 10,000. When that is added to the contrast enhancer, you can make out between many types of black. Picture on Samsung does have help from wide-angle enhancer. That makes Samsung's A450 a better viewing TV than Sony's 32XBR6 from angles and heights. But at eye level, Sony is decidedly better.

Then Sony has 4 HDMI to Samsung's 3. HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface is the computer equivalent of USB port. The connections with DVD players, blackberry and Blu-Ray drives can be made.

In sound quality, both are fitted with Trusound technology to absorb excess sound, but the speakers are average.

In response time, it's a one horse race, as Sony has not declared its response time. So pictures may appear slightly slow on Sony's version. Samsung's version has a quality response time of 6 ms. It deals with fast images such as a Bruce Lee chop in real time.

Aesthetically, Samsung wins the fight if fast pictures are what you dig most in a TV and also if you looking for a better price, but overall Sony is the winner if you are just looking for the best TV.

Sony BRAVIA EX400 Series 32-Inch LCD TV Black Review - A Serious Review You Shouldn't Miss!

Sony has been one of the leading companies when it comes to producing quality TV sets for quite some time now. Sony was actually the first company to start producing lcd tvs. It's also not letting go on the hold it has over the industry. Sony isn't a company that likes to rest on its laurels.

They still continue to produce and improve their current models in order to please and retain their consumers. Just look at the Bravia series; it's one of the best selling models. And just when you think that things can't get better, that's when you are proven wrong. Here comes the new Sony BRAVIA EX 400 Series 32-Inch lcd tv.

This TV is equipped with Sony's well known technologies, Ambient Sensor and Light Sensor. The words pretty much explain themselves but just to inform those who don't know yet, it means that the TV will automatically adjust itself to the surrounding environment.

So regardless if it's dark or bright in your room, you'll still get the best pictures and the best display. The hassle of having to manually adjust the settings is completely eliminated. It's one more to-do you can take off your list. It has a USB port which allows you to connect external devices like a hard drive so you can share your files, songs, videos and movies with friends and family.

You can also take advantage of wireless connection with this TV. However, you need to purchase a Wi-Fi dongle because it doesn't come for free. You can now get access to a multitude of online information as well as a wealth of online entertainment. Video streaming, watching videos from YouTube, you name it.

Just like all the other Bravia models released prior to this one, this TV can also remotely access other devices which are Bravia compatible, like Blu-Ray disc players, handheld camcorders, and sound systems. No need to juggle several controls. This TV has Bravia Engine 2 which makes the colors sharper, images clearer and the display more life-like. It has a digital processor that filters out and minimizes noise so you get a really good audio.

When it comes to movies you'll never fall short. This TV boasts of Sony's TruCinema technology. It has quicker response time compared to regular TVs. Movies have 24 images per second and the regular TV cannot keep up with that, which is exactly the reason why images on your TV become blurry and look very unnatural. With this TV though the movies will be displayed just as they should be. The images go from to another in a clean and smooth sequence. No problems with transitioning.

It has 4 HDMI ports which you can use to connect your Blu-Ray player, 1 PC port (HD-15 pin) which allows you to also use the TV as a computer monitor (you can use the TV as your back up if ever the one should fail) and 1 USB port for USB compatible devices. It also includes a removable TV stand, which keeps it safely in place. The TV measures 31.5 x 21 x 8.75 inches with the stand. It weighs 24.3 pounds with the stand and 21 pounds without it.

There has never been a time when Sony earned any low rankings for any of their TVs. It has always one of the top companies and judging from the way things are going I'm sure it will continue to be one of the best. The beauty of Bravia is undeniable.

Sony might cost you more than other brands but you can be sure you're spending your hard earned cash on a world class product. Would you rather scrimp on the cost of a TV only to find out later that it doesn't live up to your expectations? You wouldn't, right? You're guaranteed years and years of great entertainment with the Sony BRAVIA EX400 Series 32-Inch lcd tv.
